Bhutan’s Health Minister Expresses Gratitude to Mongolia’s “Heart Remembers” Project

During the State Visit of the Royal Family of Bhutan to Mongolia in July 2024, the Ministries of Health of both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation in the field of traditional medicine.

In connection with this, on March 25, 2025, Ambassador of Mongolia to Bhutan, H.E. Mr. Ganbold Dambajav, held an official meeting with H.E. Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk, Bhutan’s Minister of Health. The two sides discussed expanding collaboration in medical education and training between Mongolian medical universities, NGOs, and hospitals and Bhutan’s Ministry of Health, National Medical Services, and Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences, with a focus on both modern and traditional medicine.

During the meeting, Minister Wangchuk expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Mongolian NGO Bundan and Dr. Boldsaikhan’s “Heart Remembers” Project for providing life-saving cardiac surgeries to Bhutanese children with congenital heart defects. Thanks to this collaboration, the first group of Bhutanese children traveled to Mongolia for treatment on March 1, 2025—coinciding with the first day of the Mongolian Lunar New Year.

This meeting reaffirmed the growing medical partnership between the two countries, driven by a shared vision to improve healthcare access and quality for all.
