Importance of Heart-Lung Machine in Open-Heart Surgery

During open-heart surgery, the blood circulation and oxygenation of blood are assisted by a heart-lung machine. This machine, also known as a cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) machine, temporarily takes over the functions of the heart and lungs during the surgery.

This complex procedure is managed by our team's Doctor Gerelee, who has more than 20 years of experience and hard work behind her. She also trains the next generation of doctors on CPB. Dr. Gerelee is one of our team member who is known for her professionalism and dedication to the team with her enthusiasm and genuine drive.

The heart-lung machine ensures that the patient’s body receives oxygenated blood while the heart is temporarily stopped. It allows the surgeon to perform complex procedures on the heart with precision. After successful surgery, the heart resumes its normal function, and the patient begins the recovery process.
