Life-Saving Surgery Triumph: A Challenging Operation to Mend Young Hearts

In an intricate and life-saving procedure lasting 80 minutes, a resilient infant, weighing 10 kilograms, underwent surgical intervention to address Tetralogy of Fallot coupled with a superior vena cava. The operation encompassed the meticulous closure of a previous shunt, rectification of a 2cm interventricular defect with a challenging location from both sides, repair of the right ventricular outlet and pulmonary artery, and the installation of a significant surgical patch to expand the right ventricular outlet from a mere 0.3mm to a vital 1.2cm. Additionally, the surgery included the repair of the tricuspid valve. With unwavering dedication and skilled hands, the operation emerged as a resounding success.

Looking ahead, we are resolute in our commitment to continue this life-changing work, with two more operations scheduled for two boys from Kyrgyzstan on February 20th. The journey of mending young hearts for a brighter future carries on.
